You, I, Wind, Land and Sea

Happy (belated) Earth Day, my dear homosapiens!

Truth be told, I don't go out much - also another truth, I am not always in touch with mother nature. I try to be environmentally friendly when I can, and I know enough not to litter or waste.

I haven't traveled enough and that is why one of my many goals is to see the beauty of this world. My recent travel to Kuala Lumpur, a city - a city was to my surprise a disappointment. I didn't enjoy the mall visits or being expected to "shop till you drop." Shopping is fun, only when you have the moolas. My visit to Jakarta, on the other hand was different. I was merely there for the coffee and to catch a play. If I had more time, I would've taken the time to see the hidden beauty of the city itself.

Being in Phuket for almost a week was probably one of the best times in my life. Spending an entire day Island-hopping and snorkeling, sitting by the beaches, those were pure bliss. We were completely disconnected from our "online" world, that we began to learn and appreciate nature. I spent close to an hour just swimming away and snorkeling by myself, and in that moment - I felt so free and light. I was unattached, I was floating, I was by myself and no one was there to judge me. I was for the longest time, present.

I love the ocean for being able to do that. For cleansing your soul.

Then it was as simple as a road trip to Sabah to take my breath away. We told our parents to pull over so that we can get out and just take a few minutes to enjoy the view. I was high enough to oversee the mountains before us. I grabbed my Olympus Trip and took some photos (as seen above).

I love the mountains for being able to do that. For taking your breath away and replacing it with a new hope.

Road-trip to Sabah is our annual family trip, as a way to bond and strengthen our relationship and each one is always different. My parents knew I was going through a very tough time, so I asked them if we could go and spent a few days in Kota Kinabalu. They were always happy to do so for me. We took a late departure from here and spent a night in Beaufort. On our way there, the sky was so full of stars, that I never would have thought I'd be able to see such a spectacular view in my life. I tried to capture that moment, but parts of me felt like I should just savor that moment for myself. I needed it, and I had to be present to appreciate it.

I love the sky for being able to do that. For taking your sorrows away.

Tall buildings have nothing to compare to mother nature. Sure, they are constructed beautifully but they're not built out of a strong foundation. They just don't have that much of an impact to your mind, body and soul.

So I do hope I can live long enough to explore the world. I hope my next job pays well enough for me to afford my travel adventure, or better - if I get a job that makes me travel all the time. That would be the ultimate dream, wouldn't it?

To those who travels and have been sharing them online through beautifully captured images, I love you for doing so. You are the absolute inspiration and motivation! So thank you!
