Crossing Paths

I've been thinking about this for a while, and tonight I was hit by an unexpected theory of why we crossed paths with some people we're never quite certain why.

Mind you, these are just my thoughts.

Imagine yourself driving to an unfamiliar place, with very low signal that you can barely depend on your Google Map and suddenly, you're off track and you're somewhat lost? Yeah. And then you go around to get your way back, but stumble upon a person, whom you can either approach for help or simply continue with your quest.

Yeah, I think that's how crossing paths with someone works.

I thought about the number of times I met someone absolutely random, those who never had any intention of staying, those who always ended up leaving you little to no mark at all. I guess those are just people you weren't exactly supposed to meet but did anyway because it's not uncommon to feel a little lost once in a while.

Imagine yourself still driving though.
You're on your path to wherever God has written for you to be, and then you see something nice, or beautiful that you just can't seem to fight the urge to stop and embrace the beauty of it. That's us falling for someone, but again. . . we haven't gotten to our destination yet. It was a pitstop, something temporary. I don't know how to explain this one yet, but I guess it's like the weather. One day it's sunny and warm, and the next it's rain and thunder. It might as well be a natural disaster.

I mean, sure we make ourselves feel better by saying that every person we meet teaches us a lesson. True to some extent I guess, but what if we were just driving and we got lost and we're not exactly supposed to meet that person? That it was never written for us to get lost in the first place?

I think life is much like a road trip. What's planned can't always be accurate. While it's nice to meet some people, it also hurts to know that they were never meant to be a part of your journey. Perhaps a brief story, but nothing more than a short chapter. It's sad because sometimes you meet people you really wish could stay.

I like that there is beauty in getting lost and being found, but when someone's never meant to be a part of your story, no matter what you say or do, nothing will change the fact that a time will come for them to leave regardless of the feelings you've developed and the memories made together. The answer to my wonder is finally here.
